Virtually all of the energy we use comes from fossil fuels, including coal, oil, and natural gas. Once these fuels are used up, they will be gone, and won’t filled again. We have been consuming them for so long, and in such great quantities, you would never even realize that there are just limited amounts left. They’ve been extremely popular mainly because of how easy they are to store and how apparently cheap they’ve been, up to now. They can additionally be easily moved from one place to another, when required.
Natural, renewable resources would apparently be a better choice, but they come with their own issues. Resources that will not be completely used up obviously are the better of those that will. No matter how rapidly we consume them, or even how wastefully, we know one thing for certain – they will not run out, ever. The utilization of renewable energy sources hold the promise of a healthier and better future for generations to come. To do this, there needs to be a sufficient output from these types of resources to be employed for power. It’s simply coincidence that we rely on gas to run our automobiles; it just happened to be the most effective fuel available at the time, and we’ve never changed.
For this to occur, there will need to be much information put together and evaluated on the technology, and its progress. With every new advancement, there is a better prospect of coming up with alternative sources that could work better than what we have today. Natural renewable energy sources are mostly thought to be a lot better for the environment in the long term. The environment has been damaged for a lot of years now, with the consumption of fossil fuels, including coal and gasoline. It looks like a no-brainer – change over to renewable sources of energy, be less dependent on non-renewable sources of energy from other countries, and have healthier air for later generations.
Of course, there are the naysayers, who say every new approach to this problem is impractical or too pricy. They say we can’t possibly use the sun as it doesn’t shine each day. They argue that some regions on earth receive no direct sunlight for several days or weeks at a time. This is true. When it’s overcast we are restricted as to how much energy we can get from the sun. They make similar statements against using wind and water power. Even though the wind will vary, and not be able to be forecast, there is still no reason that it can’t be utilized, in a significant way, to provide power.
Yes, there may be times when the power received is not adequate; in those times, fossil fuels can be utilized as backups. With this strategy, there won’t ever be a time when there isn’t sufficient energy. There’s no point in simply sitting around and waiting for the lights to go out.
